WM Leachate Technician Landfill in Rochester, New Hampshire

I. Job Summary

Responsible for the proper operation of the Leachate Management System (LMS) in accordance with regulatory and waste Management requirements.

II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Follow all safety rules and regulations.

Maintain and repair pumps and mechanical equipment.

Maintain accurate activity logs.

Work with various site contractors.

Use computer SCADA systems for operation and troubleshooting of essential equipment.

Work with completing CYCLE tasks.

Monitors control panels and adjust valves and gates manually or by remote control to regulate flow of Landfill-leachate.

Observes variations in operating conditions and interprets meter and gauge readings and tests results to determine load requirements.

Starts and stops pumps, engines, and generators to control flow of Landfill-leachate through treatment and collection systems.

Maintains log of operations and records meter and gauge readings.

Collects Leachate sample and conducts laboratory tests.

Update and maintain data spreadsheets for compliance reports.

Other duties as assigned.

III. Supervisory Responsibilities

This job has no supervisory duties.

IV. Preferred Qualifications

Experience with wastewater treatment and collection systems.

Vocational/Technical training

Experience troubleshooting and repairing instrumentation systems.

A. Education and Experience

Have a High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

Associate's Degree, or equivalent experience, and four or more years previous experience is preferred

Demonstrate excellent communication and problem solving skills.

Exhibit basic personal computer skills.

Mechanical ability to troubleshoot and repair pumps, blowers and other equipment.

Ability to work on a rotating on-call schedule and responds to call-ins. Night, weekend and holiday work could be required.

None required.

C. Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required

Intermediate personal computer skills.

  • Required to use motor coordination with finger dexterity (such as keyboarding, machine operation, etc) occasionally;

  • Required to be exposed to physical environment that involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements part of the work day;

  • Normal setting for this job is: landfill and associated facilities and Leachate treatment plant.
