POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for the use and operation of heavy construction equipment which includes Dozer, Front End loader, Excavator and Grader. This position requires a multi-faceted track and wheel driven heavy equipment operator that can safely, productively, and with proven skill, control, maneuver, and navigate numerous types of construction equipment to a high degree of grading and excavation accuracy. Has a full understanding of construction survey, including grade control and elevations specific to engineered plans and specifications.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Load and move dirt, rocks, equipment, and materials, using trucks, crawler tractors, shovels, graders, or related equipment

  • Drive and maneuver equipment equipped with blades in successive passes over working areas to remove topsoil, vegetation, and rocks, and to distribute and level earth or terrain.

  • Coordinate machine actions with other activities, positioning or moving loads in response to hand or audio signals from crew members.

  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.

  • Must be able to quickly and repeatedly adjust controls of machine to exact positions as necessary.

  • Learn, follow, and promote all safety regulations of Waste Management and its customers.

  • Must have the ability to communicate clearly, listen and understand information through spoken words and sentences to ensure full comprehension of job duties, safety regulations, and other situations that may require an immediate response.

  • May require night, weekend, holiday, and/or overtime work based on the job site's operation schedule.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or upper management.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND CONDITIONS

  • This position requires working in the internal and external environment.

  • This position requires a flexible work schedule; night and/or weekends will be required.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING

  • Education: None required.

  • Experience: Three (3) years of previous experience.

  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.

Work Environment

  • This position requires working in the internal and external environment.

  • Will be exposed to a physical environment, which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements most of the workday.
