WM Fleet Maintenance Manager in Mount Forest, Ontario

Waste Management is seeking a dedicated Fleet Manager to join our team and oversee the full fleet of primary and secondary equipment within the assigned area. As a leader, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety, reliability, and efficiency of our vehicle assets, all while fostering a positive and supportive work environment.

Job Summary: As a Fleet Maintenance Manager at Waste Management, you will manage the full fleet of primary and secondary equipment within 1 to 2 locations and between 50- 55 assets. Your primary responsibility will be to achieve market base profitability through effective management of fleet and maintenance activities. This includes cost control, employee development, and maintaining high training and safety standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Continuously focus on achieving market base profitability through effective management of fleet and maintenance activities.

  • Review capital equipment requisitions in line with corporate guidelines and objectives.

  • Ensure safe and reliable vehicles are available to meet operational requirements.

  • Manage the effective utilization of vehicle assets.

  • Conduct fleet evaluations to ensure maintenance standards are met.

  • Ensure maintenance shops are adequately staffed and mechanics are properly trained.

  • Comply with Waste Management's Mission to Zero standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient operations.

  • Assist in the budget process as required.

  • Oversee personnel needs of the department including selecting, coaching, disciplining, and training employees.

  • Provide input into termination, compensation, and promotion decisions.

  • Conduct and/or attend periodic driver/safety meetings to maintain favorable working relationships and promote morale, productivity, and efficiency.

  • Provide training and presentations as needed in a positive and professional manner.

  • Update and submit required reports in a timely manner.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Direct supervision of 5-6 full-time employees, including 310T technicians and specialists.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree (preferred) or High School Diploma/GED with three (3) years of relevant work experience.

  • Experience: Three (3) years of relevant work experience, including supervisory experience.

  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid driver's license required with acceptable driving record.

Work Environment:

  • Required to use motor coordination with finger dexterity most of the work day.

  • Required to exert physical effort in handling objects less than 30 pounds rarely.

  • Required to be exposed to physical occupational risks rarely.

  • Required to be exposed to physical environment which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes occasionally.

  • Normal setting for this job is an office setting.
